Sara R. Imperial, 90, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport with family by her side. She was born in Clarksburg on October 28, 1927, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Leona (Cirullo) Romano.

In addition to her parents Sara was preceded in death by one infant son Paul; a sister Alberta Romano; and her former husband Samuel J. Imperial.

Ms. Imperial is survived by two sons: Samuel A. Imperial and companion Cheri Hershman of Clarksburg, and John A. Imperial of Clarksburg; one sister, Rosaria Nutter and her daughter Lee Marie Nutter both of Leesburg, VA; four grandchildren: John A. Imperial II and wife Cathy of Bridgeport, Brett J. Imperial and wife Ashley of Clarsburg, Josh VanHorn, and Daniel Hayhurst both of Lost Creek; three great-grandchildren: Alex Imperial of Bridgeport, Derek Imperial of Bridgeport, and Laken Imperial of Clarksburg; three special ladies who were like daughters: Wendy Imperial, Sharon Skoloski, and Vicki Harper; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sara was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and worked in the Harrison County Clerk’s Office for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. She greatly enjoyed working at the courthouse, especially her extended family of friends and co-workers. When able Sara greatly enjoyed dancing and gymnastics as well as doing pageants. She enjoyed cooking, sci-fi movies, westerns and watching Dancing with the Stars. Sara was well-known as always being fashionable and was commonly referred to as, “The sweetest lady I’ve ever met.” Sara liked taking part in the Kelly Hill Reunions and also the “Birthday Club” with her friends and relatives. Sara cherished spending time with her family because that was by far the most important thing in her life. She will be missed by many.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 4 until 8pm. A Prayer Vigil will begin at 7:30pm that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Father Patsy Walsh as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
